Total Off Grid Power: How to be Independent of the Power Companies
Our guest speaker for July is Lachlan O’Shea from Lockstar Energy. Lachlan is going to talk to us about understanding your standalone power system and the potential problems associated with larger off-grid systems. How a system should be fully investigated, and sized correctly, before moving from a grid system to a total off-grid system. Also, what is the best configuration for you and the different types of energy generation and storage systems available. You might have good wind in your area for a wind turbine, or maybe a stream to supplement your other generating devices with a hydro generator. Having the appropriate system, that is the best fit for your needs, is what Lachlan specialises in.
What sort of maintenance issues are there? Can I start off small and add to my system as I can afford it? Are there any penalties from the power companies for going off the grid? What are the costs associated with a totally off-grid system? These are just some of the question Lachlan will be able to answer for you.
This talk is very topical, given the recent increase in energy costs from our power providers. If you are considering being independent of the power providers, then this is one ATA meeting not to be missed!
ATA Members are encouraged to bring along guests to our monthly meetings and any suggestions regarding future speaker subjects, or ATA direction, to our committee meeting. Light refreshments will be served after the meeting where further discussion and general mingling take place over a cup of tea or coffee and a few nibblies.
Committee meeting from 6.30pm – all welcome.
