Presentation: Solar Citizens – Campaigning for Solar in the Sunshine State
Jason Lyddieth is Community Organiser for Solar Citizens in Queensland. “Solar Citizens is an independent community based organisation working to protect and grow solar in Australia. We advocate for the rights of more than 5 million solar owners and the millions more who wish to go solar.”
Jason will give an overview of activities they have organised to support the uptake of solar power in Queensland, including their Home Grown Power Plan to transition to 100 percent renewable energy, and comments on the recent Federal Election and what the results might mean for solar power owners.
Jason has been a climate activist for almost twenty years since he was arrested putting solar panels on John Howard's roof during the Kyoto talks in 1997. Since then he has been involved in a number of climate groups. Before moving to Solar Citizens in January 2015 he worked at Greenpeace Australia Pacific.
