ATA Canberra branch meeting - Temperature measurement, household energy modelling and the Theory of Cumulative IncompetenceMay 25, 2016 at 7:30 pm
Where: Ian Ross Building, Australian National University, 31 North Road, Acton ACT 2601
Speaker: Andrew Perry is the secretary of the Canberra branch of the Alternative Technology Association
Subject: Temperature measurement, household energy modelling and the Theory of Cumulative Incompetence.Like many other members of the local ATA and ASC groups Andrew has been trying to use temperature logging hardware to quantify the performance (or lack of performance) of a 1960's Canberra house.
The idea was to use these data as a sanity check on thermal models of the house, built using the freely available tools: SketchUp, OpenStudio and EnergyPlusSuch a model could then be used to evaluate the effects of proposed changes to the house.
An overview of this (incomplete) project will be presented with the hope that a general discussion of this topic will follow.
A copy of the evenings presentation can be found here.
