Speaker: Peter Gorton
Presentation: Living with Electric Vehicles.
In this meeting Pete Gorton will talk about the current Electric Vehicle (EV) situation in Australia. This will start with EVs that are available today (in Australia…) and those that are imminent and then move on to the need to build a usable national charging infrastructure. He will include references to his experiences after his recent purchase of a 2015 BMW i3 bev, with 110-120 km range, and his need to develop "Range Confidence".
He has driven mostly rural roads, accumulating 5000 km over three months. He has demonstrated that you can tour "the hard way" (using 8/10/15A and 32A charges, with a couple of "luxurious" 30 minute, ACTEWAGL Level 3 DC Rapid Charge top-ups at Greenway)."
Peter Gorton has been a member and active contributor to the Australian Solar Energy Society, the Alternative Technology Association, the Australian Institute of Energy, the Australia EV Association (AEVA) and the Canberra Branch of AEVA. He will be happy to lead discussion based on his “hands on” experience with an EV.
This is a public meeting: please invite anyone who might be interested.
