Dr Phillipa Watson will speak about Sustainable Living Tasmania's "Get Bill Smart" program, an innovative project to help people on low incomes learn how to be more energy efficient, improve the thermal comfort of their homes and save money on power bills.
Speaker bio: Dr Phillipa Watson is a Research Fellow in the UTAS Housing and Community Research Unit. She is also a principal consultant at RED Sustainability Consultants.
Her work history has included being a designer and sustainability consultant, integrated solutions coordinator at Brisbane City Council and on the sustainable building team at CSIRO. Her research covers housing and sustainabilit, decision making for sustainability, adaptation and transition, housing quality, homemaking, and community change. Her current research project examines the responses of householders to 'smart' solar/battery systems that responsively interact with the electricity network and market.
