Water recycling: Wollongong recycles about 40% of its wastewater on an average day, which is one of the highest recycling rates of any Australian city. Hugo will give the details and highlight the residues (biosolids) extracted and their benefits to farmers and others.
Biosolids: The solid material removed from wastewater is nutrient-rich, and can be beneficially applied to farmland or composted to further improve its use in fertilising and soil conditioning. The digestion process also provides benefits from renewable energy generation.
