ATA Branch members form the largest network in Australia of people actively reducing their impact on the environment by making tangible changes to their homes and lifestyles, and sharing their experiences with others. The national organisations website can be found at ATA.org.au.
Along with other activities throughout the year, the Sydney Central Branch usually meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 6 to 8pm. Our format is to have a guest speaker plus time for general discussion. Come along and join us for a cup of tea or coffee and add to your network of friends and business contacts. (See the Sydney Central Branch page at Ata.org.au, visit our EventBrite page or email atasydney@gmail.com, for details of what’s on.)
The topic for the next meeting of the Sydney Central Branch will be “Understanding Coal Seam Gas (CSG) in your Neighbourhood”, and will be presented by Jacinta Green, who lives 500 metres from the approved CSG well in St Peters. After learning about this approval, Jacinta spent three months researching the possible impacts of this well in her neighbourhood, delaying completion of her PHD thesis in Marine Ecology at UNSW. Jacinta is now the Sydney spokesperson for Stop CSG and Vice President of Lock The Gate Alliance.
Jacinta will be talking about the likelihood of more CSG wells across the Sydney basin, the basics of CSG and other unconventional gasses as well touching on the science that supports as well as refutes the claims that CSG is clean and green.
At the end of this meeting, we are planning to hold the annual Sydney Central ATA committee member elections. We welcome all current members to participate in the voting on the evening and we also welcome submissions for committee member positions.
If you will be attending, please take a moment to register using the link below. We are trialling this facility and would appreciate your feedback on it at the meeting.

This event is free but REGISTRATION IS ESSENTIAL as space is limited. If insufficient space is available, preference will be given to ATA and AuSES members. If you are not yet a member, you may like to consider joining ATA and membership details are found at www.ata.org.au.
Time: 6 to 8 pm on May 8.
Location: Wallaby Room, 11th Floor, Telstra Building, 320 Pitt St Sydney.
